چکیده

We report the desorption of a chemisorbed polyatomic adsorbate from a transition metal surface by a beam of neutral, energetic Ar atoms. From direct measurement of the threshold energy for collision-induced desorption we calculate the surface–adsorbate bond energy. The absolute cross sections for NH3 desorption at one-quarter of a monolayer coverage were measured for Ar beam energies up to ;3 eV at incident angles of 0°, 30°, 45°, and 60°. For the NH3/Pt$111% adsorbate– surface system, the threshold desorption energy is found to be 1.9560.17 eV. Using a classical energy transfer mechanism this threshold energy corresponds to a bond energy of 1.160.1 eV using an effective mass of 1 Pt atom. The threshold desorption energy scales with the total energy of the noble gas atoms for each angle of incidence. This result is consistent with a strong lateral corrugation in the NH3/Pt$111% potential energy surface and a similar ejection mechanism at each angle. © 1995 American Institute of Physics.

In Vitro Effects of Different Surface Preparation Techniques on Shear Bond Strength of Direct to Indirect Composite Resin

Objective: Repair of an indirect restoration is usually preferred over its replacement. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of silane in different surface preparation techniques on the bond strength of direct to indirect composite resin.   Methods: For this in vitro experimental study, 48 indirect composite cubes were fabricated, divided into 4 groups of 12 and subjected to the following ...

Application of Response Surface Method to the Estimation of Bond Work Index

Introduction The main objective of this contribution is to focus on the portion of the comminution process which deals with the prediction of the energy consumption due to the comminution portion of the milling processes. The comminution energy in mineral processing and cement industry is usually determined by empirical Bond Work Index (BWI), regardless of the mechanical properties of a rock....

Effect of Surface Roughness Morphology on Bond Strength of Thermal Sprayed WC-10Co-4Cr Ceramic/Metal Coating

In this study, the effect of surface roughness and roughness morphology on the bond strength of WC-Co-Cr coatings has investigated. The three different surfaces morphology are use for this purpose. The first and tow samples sandblasted with alumina and silicon carbide respectively. Other sample no sandblasted before spraying process. The same WC-10Co-4Cr coating deposited on the substrates with...

Translational energy and state resolved observations of D and D2 thermally desorbing from D clusters chemisorbed on graphite.

Direct D atom desorption, as well as associative desorption of D(2) molecules are observed in thermal desorption from D atoms chemisorbed on a C(0001) surface by combining laser induced T-jumps with resonance enhanced multiphoton ionization detection. Bleaching curves suggest that different classes of chemisorbed D atom clusters are present on the initial surface. The energy resolved atomic des...

Experimental Investigation of the Methods of Evaluating the Bond Strength Between Concrete Substrate and Repair Materials

This investigation was aimed at studying the effect of test methods on bond strength between concrete substrate and repair material. Four test methods with cementations or modified-cementations repair materials, and two surface roughnesses were studied. The methods used were pull-off, slant shear, splitting prism and a new direct shear named Bi-Surface shear test. While the coefficient of varia...
